Would We Conceive Another Baby?

After deciding that we were very open to whatever plans God had for our family, we kept quiet to family and friends regarding what had transpired in our lives. We figured our God was a Big God but we had no idea how all this would happen. We knew He would be in the details that would follow in the days ahead. For the present time, we kept living our lives normally. We sold our first home in 2004 and had our present home built. As we neared the end of 2005, we begin to sense God calling us to become actively involved in this plan He had for our family to increase.

One of our main dilemmas regarding our family was how would our child be conceived. David and I had chosen to only have one child in 1995, so he had a vasectomy performed. We were confident in our decision and knew we were making the right choice for us at the time. However, in March 2006, we decided to make another appointment with David's urologist who had performed his vasectomy. We were contemplating a reversal. The doctor was pleasantly surprised at our request, as he said most of his reversal requests were from men who had remarried younger wives who wanted children. He said we were definitely not the common request for a reversal after 11 years, nor were we good candidates for conception. Because of the time since the original surgery, we only had a 30% chance of conception. Plus, the surgery would be much more difficult for David than it had been the first time. Despondently, we left the doctor's office that day, knowing that this was not God's plan for us.
