Oh my goodness everybody! Riley Grace Campbell is here, and she is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen!
Today we went to the Civil Affairs Office to pick up our baby. Our appointment was scheduled for 3:30. Of course we were eager, so we were there by 3:15. Unfortunately, we had to wait for her for an hour because they were running late! We could barely hold ourselves together. They finally arrived and the water works started! Riley did not want to go to anyone! She first went to mom, who she became the most attached to immediately. Dad and I tried holding her but it did not last long. She only wanted my mom. She loves Cheerios, and we have been feeding her non stop! She is so tiny. The outfit she was wearing when we got her was a 9 month size! It was a little snug, so it looks like 12-18 months will be perfect for her small body! You can feel all of her bones through her clothes :( but we will surely fatten her up soon! While we were at the Civil Affairs Office for almost two hours, she only let my mom hold her. This literally broke my heart. I knew this was normal but I wanted her to come to me so bad! About a few months ago, we sent a care package to her orphanage for Riley to have. We sent a blanket, a bunny, an album full of pictures of us, and a camera for them to take pictures of her. There is never a gurantee that we would have received all of this back when we got her. Fortunately, we got everything back we sent her, which hopefully means she somewhat recognized us from the pictures. We cannot wait to come home and get the pictures developed the orphanage took with the disposable camera we sent.
When we came home, it was like Riley came alive! We put fresh clothes on her, a bow, and new shoes. She LOVES her DC shoes her big sis got her. :) She has been running around and tossing a ball. She also loves to be read to her. When we read to her, she is so concentrated on what we are saying and the pictures that are in front of her. When we take pictures or video her, she loves to look at herself. Her Chinese name is Yunjiao. Her nickname the orphange gave her is "jiao jiao". She constantly repeats "jiao jiao" when looking at herself in the mirror! She has so much personality once you warm up to her. I am so in love with her with only being with her for a few short hours! She has quickly warmed up to me and will let me hold her and play with her. She has not quite warmed up to dad yet, but I am sure she will very soon.
I already cannot wait to bring her home. She will probably be shy at first, but give her a few minutes and she will be shining with personality! We have taken several pictures, but have not uploaded them on the computers yet. Later tonight I will send a seperate email with pics! You guys are going to fall in love.... :) Honestly I just want to be with her everyday. Mom already said she doesn't want to go back to work! When I told mom that I wanted to be a high school drop out to take care of her, Riley thought it was funny and smiled! There is probably no way I will leave far for college. Motlow, here I come....lol.
Will send pictures soon...love and miss everyone!
