Last Thursday, April 22, our immigration nightmare came to a screeching halt! Yes, we received the all-important amended I-171H in the mail that afternoon. What a long week it was until that notice came. Even that morning at work, I had a meltdown when David came to see me and told me that our social worker was recommending us take a trip to Memphis to deal with immigration officials face to face. I was devastated by all the delays. I also learned that morning that the month of May was all filled up for visa interviews in China. This meant that we definitely would not travel in May. This was more bad news, as I was so sure we would travel that month. I was not sure how much more I could take.
Then the mail lady came! David text me and told me the news and the Hallelujah chorus rang! Things happened so quickly in the next 24 hours. Our visa appointment in China was confirmed for June 14. This interview is when Riley gets her American visa and we can begin our journey home with her! This is the final step of the adoption process! Our travel dates were confirmed and we were told that we would have Riley in our arms possibly by June 7th and definitely on June 8th. Now the final preparations can be made for Riley's arrival in Smyrna!

ReplyDeleteHooray! Use the next month for all the preparing that you have done in your mind for the last 3 years. :) It will be here before you know it. If you see my baby boy while you are there, would you give him a kiss from his Mommy. :) So excited for you guys, cannot wait to see this sweet girl home where she belongs.
