I was hoping never to post what I'm about to share with you because I was praying it would all be fixed quickly. However, it has been 2 weeks since I discovered an error in our immigration paperwork. Our paperwork incorrectly stated that we were approved for a female child 0-12 months of age. It should state her age as 0-24 months. We quickly overnighted the correct documents to Homeland Security, along with other documents mailed from our adoption agency. This was done on 3/31/10. Our social worker informed us that our case could move no further until this was corrected. We tried to wait patiently for the next two weeks.
On Monday, April 12, China issued Travel Invitations to us. This is normally wonderful news to an adoptive family, as it means specific travel dates are imminent. However, in our case, this is bittersweet news as we are not immigration approved. Today our social worker found out that immigration has no record of the items that we have mailed. Our file is once again being overnighted tonight (Thursday, April 15) in hopes that the case manager will receive it and correct the error. As soon as this is processed, we will be back on track to schedule our visa interview at the U.S. embassy in China and make definite travel plans. Please pray for a miracle! I know God has a purpose and a plan for this delay. I just hate to think of our baby girl spending one more day in an orphanage than absolutely necessary.
