China It Is!

As we further discussed the options with adoption, David remembered some of our friends from First Baptist who had adopted from China. He immediately called Jim and Yolanda Chapman and started asking them questions about China adoption. We had dinner with them and met their two daughters from China. They were so patient with us and not only answered all our questions, but also referred us to a local adoption agency in Nashville. It seemed almost effortless, but within days, we knew in our hearts that our second daughter would be born in China.

China was a country that had a need for homes for their baby girls, due to the population rules of allowing only one child per family. Many American families had already adopted, and this path was well set for others to follow. At that time, the wait for a baby was less than a year.

One of the staments that Jim made to David really had an impact on us. Jim and Yolanda have 4 biological children. Jim recalled the feeling of holding your child in the delivery room moments after birth and how awesome that is! Then he compared that feeling to when they place your adopted child into your arms for the first time! He described that as no less an incredible feeling to have!
