Last Thursday, April 8, I finally got Riley Grace's care package into the mail and on its way to her orphanage in Datong City, Shanxi Province, China. I have been collecting some of these items for a couple of years. The reality that a little person will be receiving these items very soon overwhelmed me when I left the post office. I sat in my car and wept, thanking God for this wonderful blessing that awaits us in China. Although the timeline of this adoption would have moved much faster had I been in control, I am so thankful for God's faithfulness to His promises! We can truly see the light at the end of the tunnel, and it won't be long before our baby is home with us.
Some of the items I mailed Riley were a soft pink blanket that has "Thank heaven for little girls" stitched into the fabric, a cloth diaper monogrammed with "Little Sister," a pink bunny, two balls, animal crackers, a disposable camera for the nannies to photograph her life in the orphanage, and a little family album book for Riley to begin to see our faces, and hopefully become familiar with us. I pray these few items will bring her comfort and joy while she waits for us.
